Thinking About WORDS

Over the last few weeks, we have been exploring certain words… big little words that we need more of. We’ve talked about words like “kindness”, “forgiveness”, “joy”, “follow”, “obey”, and “trust.” All of these are simple little words that are big from a Biblical perspective… big in relation to the Christian life. Can you think of others? If there are other words you think would be good to study, please leave a comment with your suggestion(s), or email or text…

Campfire Fellowship!

It’s one of our favorite summer activities – Campfire Fellowships are here! The first is scheduled for Saturday, June 15th at the Johnson home. We’ll gather from 5-9PM and enjoy food, fellowship, fun, fishing, and frivolity. Bring your lawn chairs, yard games, corn hole boards, horse shoes, and a dish to pass, and join us! It’s always a good time. Now, the weather is not looking particularly good. Right now the forecast is calling for 70%-90% chance of rain tomorrow…

Big Stuff In The Works!

Just a few things happening over the next few weeks here at Friendship Bible Church. You won’t want to miss them. And we need you to be greatly in prayer concerning all of them: First – Vacation Bible School is now only a couple weeks away! Pray pray pray, and sign up your kids and grandkids so we can plan properly. Pray for little souls to come to Christ! Second – Tenth Anniversary Celebration for Friendship Bible Church – the…

How Do We Know…

The question was asked, “How do we know what God said when He was creating the earth and all that’s in it? He was the only one there, so how do we know what He said?” This is a question related to the inspiration of the Bible. Paul wrote to Timothy that “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be…

My Favorite Once a Year Post!

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. (I Timothy 1:15 NKJV) I’ve published this same blog posting for the last few years. Each year it gets more precious. Praise the Lord. It was May 3, 1970. In just 24 hours one of this area’s most well-known historical events would occur – the shootings at Kent State University. But on May 3, something…

Praying Like Every Week, But Different!

Our normally scheduled Wednesday prayer meeting will not be held this week, but will be replaced by our Thursday observance of the National Day of Prayer. The church will be open from 5-9 PM for any who wish to come and pray. There is no program or service, just an open church and some materials to guide you in praying for our country. Come for as little a period of time as you want, or asĀ  much. Stop in on…

What exactly happened on that cross?

Here’s a hint – what happened there involved a man… a lamb… and a whole lotta hope! Join us this evening for our Good Friday remembrance at 6:30, and find out more about what happened on that cross.

Special Treat This Wednesday

Fred Edward’s nephew, Bill Wilkinson, will join us during prayer meeting to share his ministry in remote Alaska. As always, we’ll leave ample time for prayer, so bring your prayer requests and join us as we pray for one another. I came across a verse that greatly convicted me this morning. Samuel said, “Moreover as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you…” (1 Samuel 12:23a)
