The Joy of Living in Expectation
For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain (Philippians 1:21 NKJV).
Christ was the center of Paul’s life, and the gain he anticipated in death.
Christ Is Preached – What Joy!
What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice (Philippians 1:18 NKJV). Living with the gospel… the preaching of the gospel… at the center of our lives, brings joy.
Joy
Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy (John 16:20 NKJV). For a Christian, sorrow might come for a while, but it will be replaced with joy that lasts for eternity.
