Our Joy In Christ

All Your Need… All His Riches

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Paul was grateful for their gift, but even more for the rewards it accrued to their account, and reminded them that they could never out give God.

A Right Mind

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things (Philippians 4:8 NKJV). Christians should think right thoughts, and those thoughts should lead to right action.

Nothing! And Everything!

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV). Worrying about nothing, and praying about everything, brings the peace of God to our lives.

Where Do You Live?

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself. (Philippians 3:20-21 NKJV) The Christian’s home is not of this world, nor is the Christian’s prize. We are citizens of heaven, waiting for the Savior of heaven to come for us.

Pressing Toward the Goal

Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV). As we run the race for Christ, we need to look forward, not backward, and strain toward the finish line.

The Only Thing That Matters

But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ (Philippians 3:7 NKJV). Knowing and trusting Christ is the only thing that matters.

Who Can We Look Up To?

Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such men in esteem (Philippians 2:29 NKJV). Timothy and Epaphroditus are role models all Christians should admire and emulate.

Working Out

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure (Philippians 2:12-13 NKJV). If God has worked IN us to save us, it will be seen in what comes OUT of us.

One. His. (Part 2)

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus… (Philippians 2:5 NKJV). In Christ’s emptying… the kenosis… we have the ultimate example of the singleness of mind Paul was encouraging on the Philippians.

One. His.

fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind (Philippians 2:2 NKJV). The single mind is our goal, and will bring joy.
